We pride ourselves on staying abreast of the latest world wide trends. Our world wide network allows us to keep pace with the ever evolving nature of the way people behave on the web.

As ever more people become web savvy or more so, their expectations are also constantly changing, therefore it is vital for web site design, usability and functionality to be congruent with these evolving expectations.

For a web site to be of any value to your business and be a source of leads and income it requires 3 very important things:

  •  • USABILITY
  •  • FUNCTIONALITY
  •  • DESIGN

USABILITY - your FIRST concern.

Your web site must do what your visitor expects it to do. The experience of moving about and finding what they are looking for must flow smoothly for visitors to your site.

Research says you have but a few seconds before your visitors will leave and move on to the next site in their search, even if staying around and looking further will allow them to find exactly what they are looking for!

You do this yourself, so you do understand how important it is to not only capture your visitor's attention but you must prolong their visit to your site in order to convert their visit into a phone call or an email.

Then and only then will you have the opportunity to convert the enquiry into a sale.

So, if you're getting plenty of HITS on your site and way less enquiries you should be hearing alarm bells.

FUNCTIONALITY - your other FIRST concern.

Adding elements to your site greatly increases its functionality for visitors.

For example, asking your visitors to watch a portion of a video right now, bookmark something, or follow you on social media such as Twitter, Facebook and others; or download an RSS feed directly to their email program to keep them abreast of the latest developments in their industry.

Pretty much anything useful to your visitors that increases their knowledge, or provides them with more information. If you aren't sure what your visitors really want just ASK them! Asking them to fill in a 5 question survey so you can serve them better in the future not only shows you really care about their needs, it will provide you will much needed information to make your web site more functional - at no cost to you.

People also like to share information they have found interesting or useful, so providing them with the opportunity to easily and quickly share something with a friend or colleague is an excellent way to increase the functionality of your web site for them.

There are many ways to increase the functionality of your web site. How you choose to do this will depend to a large degree on your business, your products, and what you want your site to actually DO. It might even take some testing and tweaking to find just the right mix, but a survey will get you started! Just never assume it's what you think it is, because usually it's not.

DESIGN - the final FIRST concern.

Great web design will grab the attention of your visitor, and tell them who you are in a more emotional way because people respond to colour, shape and form even though they are not always aware they are doing so. However good design and a clean crisp layout won't keep visitors on your site if neither of the above two first concerns have not been met.

In a nutshell, you need to make sure you have ALL three of the above areas well covered.

Oh, and one last little word of advice...

DON'T TRY TO MAKE YOUR WEB SITE PERFECT BEFORE YOU GO LIVE!

Of course, it's important that your web site is free of spelling errors, and that your information is up to date, and your contact details are all 100% correct...but don't put off going live while you're trying to reach that elusive 100% in every aspect of your site.

Remember... a web site is an organic thing. It should, and will always be, a work in progress. Our best advice is this...don't waste precious time (and money) by becoming a perfectionist when it comes to your web site going live.

If you cover off all of the above, no-one but you will care if there's still a bit of tweaking to do!
